Our Children’s Ministry Philosophy
Knowledge of God: The
Bible reveals to us our God. Our
teaching should point to God’s name and character as the foundation for
our faith. Children need to learn
of the greatness of our God.
Colossians 1:10 That you may
walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good
work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
Rooted and Grounded: Children
can learn God’s truth at a young age.
By teaching great Bible truth to children, we lay a foundation on
which they can build a life of godly choices. Colossians 2:7 Rooted and built up in Him and
established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with
thanksgiving.
Precept upon Precept: We
desire to communicate God’s Word to children at the level of their
understanding. As they grow mentally
and spiritually, we can seek to expand their understanding of Bible truth
and its application. Isaiah
28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon
line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little.
Hearers to Doers: Teaching
God’s Word is our foundation; however, we know that the fruit of such
teaching is found in the obedience of the hearers. We desire to apply God’s truth to daily
living, and we will encourage the children to make right choices
throughout the week based on their learning on Sunday. James 1:22 But
be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
Teach your children: God’s
Word clearly demands that parents teach Bible truth to their
children. Our church desires to
assist parents by reinforcing Biblical principles in children’s church. Deuteronomy 11:19 You
shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your
house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
From a child: Children will not
remember everything from their lessons in children’s church, but we will
show them Jesus. We desire to
establish a long-term plan of teaching the whole council of God to the
youth of our church. A sure
foundation can be prepared in the early years, built upon in the teen
years, and made to last for a lifetime.
2 Timothy 3:15 And that from
childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you
wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
